MiA Awarded $40,000 to serve Brazoria County Veterans

With this funding, Mosaic in Action will repair the homes of 4 Brazoria County veterans at no cost to them over the next three years thanks to our partners at Coalition for Home Repair.

Mosaic in Action is a subrecipient of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 2023 Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification Pilot Program (VHRMP). The Coalition for Home Repair, of which Mosaic in Action is an active member, will manage and distribute funds to 14 home repair nonprofits nationwide to repair homes for 80+ veterans. Mosaic in Action has committed to providing additional $28,000 in matched and leveraged resources to fulfill the requirements of the $40,000 grant award making the total local investment $68,000.

While we are eager to begin serving veterans in our county with this funding, we are unable to begin work until February 2023 without risking our veterans’ eligibility for the program. Until then, we are looking for local support to help us fulfill our $28,000 portion of the grant. Of this, $8,000 must be financial donations made to Mosaic in Action with the designation of VHRMP. The remaining $20,000 can be donated materials, time, or additional financial donations.

As with all of our funding, we want to remain transparent and open with our neighbors and champions. If you have any questions about this grant, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff. Thank you for your support of Mosaic in Action and our United States Veterans!
